You've got your blog set up. Days go by, you keep publishing, but no one comments and your traffic stats are barely registering. What do you do?

You must do blog promotion to start driving traffic to your site. Just follow next steps learned from internet marketing expert and SEO opportunist Denise Wakeman, tested and used on DetectorPro:

  1. Set up a feed on MyYahoo.com. With this set up your site gets regularly spidered by the Yahoo search engine (tutorial: http://www.biztipsblog.com) (Link: http://www.my.yahoo.com).
  2. Read and comment on other blogs that are in your target niche. Write intelligent, useful comments with a link to your blog, don’t write comments like “nice blog” or “good post”.
  3. Use Ping-0-matic to ping blog directories every time you publish (Link: http://www.pingomatic.com).
  4. Put a link to your blog on every page of your website.
  5. Add a link to your blog in your signature file of your email.
  6. Submit your blog to search engines (Link: http://www.submitfire.com).
  7. Submit your blog to blog directories. (Link of most comprehensive web directories: http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/).
  8. Include a link to your blog as a standard part of all outgoing correspondence: reports, sales letters, white papers, etc. Print your blog URL on your business cards, brochures and flyers.
  9. Make sure you have an RSS(Rich Site Summary) feed URL that people can subscribe to. These RSS documents ('feeds') may be read using news readers. (Learn more: http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-readers.htm)
  10. Post often; refer you to others in their networks; include links to other blogs, articles and websites in your posts
  11. Use Trackback! Trackback means sending a message from one server to another server letting it know you have posted a reference to their post. The benefit is that a link to your blog is now included on their site.
  12. Write articles to post around the web in article directories. Include your blog link.
  13. The most important! Make a commitment to blog everyday. 10-15 minutes a day can help increase your traffic. New content always attracts search engine spiders.
  14. Use a hit counter to track your visitor stats.(Link: http://www.sitemeter.com ).
  15. And the last(:-) ): Don’t hesitate to write me a comment of your results of using these tips!

Excellent tips. I'm going to put some into play today. And let's not forget business cards to pass out to friends and family to spread the network. I use 123 prints--they are very inexpensive.
