How to install Microsoft Office 2007 on Ubuntu

This is easy tutorial of how to install MS Office 2007 on Ubuntu under Wine. If you already have Wine installed, skip to step 2.

  1. Open terminal and enter:
    sudo apt-get install wine
  2. Download and save rpcrt4.dll file and msxml3.msi file.
  3. From Applications/Wine select Browse C\: Drive
  4. Go to Windows\System32
  5. Select downloaded files and copy in (overwrite) Windows\System32 folder
  6. For configuring wine for MS Office 2007 go to Applications/Wine/Configure Wine or open terminal and type:
    winecfg
  7. On Aplications tab, Windows Version select Windows Vista.
  8. Go to Libraries tab, than New override for library, select rpcrt4.dll - click Add, and msxml3.dll - click Add again and use edit for both files to make them Native(Windows)
  9. Download MS Office 2007 from official site or from torrent or if you have installation CD click setup.exe or open terminal and type wine setup.exe
  10. Next, install the MS Office.
