Linux tip: How to install the newest Adobe Reader version on Ubuntu

Ubuntu Linux has installed default PDF document reader, so you can open your PDF files with double click on them. But if there is a reasons for program dislike, or you want more options when viewing and printing pdf documents, you can install the native Linux version of Adobe PDF Reader for free.

To install the newest Adobe Reader version click here then follow next steps:

  1. Go to Get Adobe Reader
  2. Click on “Different language or operating system?”
On step 1 of 2 choose
  1. choose Linux at "Select an operating system"
  2. choose Linux - x86 (.deb) at "Select an Installer"
  3. choose your language and click continue, then on step 2 of 2 click download.
When downloading is finished, double click on downloaded file to install Adobe Reader.

After installation you can found Adobe Reader at Applications/Office start menu.

To change the default PDF document reader on Ubuntu, right click on pdf file, then Properties. On "Open With" tab choose Adobe Reader. Now your pdf files will be opened with Adobe Reader.
