Linux distribution motivated by Intel and adapted to netbooks – operating system Moblin is available in the alpha version with a number of difficulties.

Although this is a operating system based on Linux, an open source, the project was initiated by Intel as support to the company chipsets. Supported are the Intel Atom and the Core 2with notice that the distribution is not working on processors without SSE3 instruction.

Moblin is based on Fedora Linux with kernel 2.6.29-RC2, brings the possibility of quick boot called Fastboot, simply connecting to the network through ConnMan manager, Xserver 1.6 and installation tool Moblin Image Creator (MIC2). Moblin supported the most common Intel integrated graphics cards GMA 915/945/965 (currently not GMA500) as well as different wire and wireless network adapters from the Intel, SIS, a Realtek, Broadcom, Atheros, Ralink and PCNet32.

Moblin has been tested on netbooks Acer Aspire One, Asus Eee 901 and Dell Mini 9, but for the alpha version many difficulties are still present. They refer to the impossibility of using the wireless network at the Asus Eee 901 and the difficulties with the user interface and 3D performance.
