Google launch a service named Google Latitude which allows positioning of a mobile phone user, sending information about your exact current location to your contacts and receiving information about your contacts current location.

Latitude is designed as a service for friends and family members, and possibly business contacts. If mobile users like to use this setvice, they must interact to give each other consent to the exchange of location information.

Latitude is part of Google Maps for Mobile, but also can be run as a gadget to your iGoogle page. Uses Google technology to determine the position of a combination of data from GPS satellites and base stations from the ground. It works on most Blackberry devices, most devices with Windows Mobile 5, the majority of devices with Symbian, and will soon come to the G1, iPhone and iPod touch. Service is now available in 27 countries.
