HP is start to support Ubuntu Server on it's ProLiant server line. HP has long Linux support on their servers and it's currently support Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Oracle Enterprise Linux and Debian on its server hardware. Ubuntu is the community favorite desktop Linux, but on server side things are little different. Canonical enter in server world with Ubuntu 6.06 LTS version, but officially arrived on server world when Wikipedia choose Ubuntu for their servers, and we think, that move was initiative for many companies to support Ubuntu.

Now HP start to support Ubuntu with full hardware certification on ProLiant server line, and both companies are already co-operating to ensure that Ubuntu will work flawlessly on the certified servers.

Server Linux is getting more support than Desktop Linux, but powerful trio of Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE is continuing to increase performance and add new valuable features with every six-month release. Now, at least any major computer producer have notebook or netbook shipped with Linux and soon I think there will be changes on Desktop side too.
