Canon announces the new 15.1- megapixel EOS 500D / EOS Rebel T1i offering an outstanding combination of features to photographers. Canon now brings Full High Definition (HD) video capability to consumers in a compact and lightweight DSLR. The camera can capture HD video 720p at 30fps or Full HD 1080p at 20fps.

EOS 500D / Rebel T1i offers a 3.0” Clear View LCD screen with a 920,000 pixels for ultra-detailed image review, accurate focus checks, and clear access to the EOS menu system. ISO speeds are from ISO 100 up to ISO 3200 in whole stop increments, along with two additional high-speed ISO settings – H1: 6400 and H2: 12800. It includes a faster Digic 4 processor offering 14-bit analog-to-digital conversion, better noise reduction at higher ISO's and continuous shooting speeds of up to 3.4 fps delivering 170 large JPEG images or 9 raw images in a single burst when using class 6 or higher SD or SDHC memory card.

Live View has 3 options - Quick, Live and Face Detection Live. The 15.1-megapixel CMOS sensor has upgraded Self-Cleaning Sensor with a fluorine coating on the low-pass filter for better dust resistance.

Canon EOS 500D / Rebel T1i digital SLR is scheduled for delivery in May, at an estimated body-only price of $799.99 in US + additional 100 for EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom kit. Europe retail prices will be €999.99 for the body and €1139.99 with mentioned kit.

EOS 500D / Rebel T1i is compatible with the full range of Canon’s EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites – including the exceptionally compact, powerful new Speedlite 270EX, which features a bounce and zoom head, plus fast recharging from just 2 AA sized batteries. It allows the creation of a shooting system as unique as the photographer using it, as Rainer Fuehres, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging, Europe said: “Photography enthusiasts can now capture their most significant moments in a manner that matches their creativity.”
