According to the site MacRumors, Apple could offer in the next version of iPhone the possibility of user selection process that will run in the background. Lack of real multitasking on iPhone is often pointed out as one of the main drawback of this phone.

As an alternative, Apple in October last year promised "Notification system" which can help to not active applications to receive current information. With this would most benefit the IM application, but for applications where the work requires constant background applications (eg streaming radio) system would be of great benefit.

According to recent information, unnamed sources like MacRumors said, new system could turn into a real background application which will offer to iPhone users would to choose which processes to work in the background. It is not known is this feature will come with firmware upgrade, or is reserved exclusively for the new edition of iPhone.

Although Apple has not make official announcement, the current version of iPhone is probably the hardware for poor parallel performance for several applications, in the background could work only one or two applications. Great progress in this field is expected from the new iPhone, which should bring significant improvements in terms of performance. According to early rumors the next version of iPhone could appear in June.

For your information, new Palm mobile phone which don’t have problem with multitasking is already in the stores.
