Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 with HD video on April 24th

Panasonic will launch new Lumix Micro Four Thirds format DMC-GH1 interchangeable-lens 12-megapixel digital system camera on April 24th. The DMC-GH1 is the second Micro FourThirds camera and has capability of 1080p HD video recording, continuous AF (autofocus), high-quality stereo recording with Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator, manual exposure control in its Creative Movie mode settings - giving the DMC-GH1 greater versatility. High Definition movies are recorded in 1080/24p or 720/60p movies in AVCHD format on SD/SDHC memory card.

The new camera has 12.1-megapixel high-speed Live MOS sensor and the Venus Engine HD image processor for faster, precise and noise free processing capability. The DMC-GH1 features D-SLR photo quality, the live sensor renders images with minimal noise even when using high ISO sensitivity. The multi-aspect ratio function of the sensor allows photos to be taken using a 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9 aspect ratio, all with the same angle of view.

The camera has build Supersonic Wave Filter to prevent matter from dust on the image sensor when changing lens. The LUMIX DMC-GH1 and LUMIX G Micro System can use any interchangeable lens that complies with the Four Thirds standard via an optional mount adapter.

Lumix DMC-GH1 has various connection capability over USB or video out/HDMI connectors for Photo and Video preview on every TV.

The HD video recording DSLR trend start with Nikon D90 and soon was followed by Canon and now Panasonic digital cameras. Lucky us, we get all the benefits from both worlds: photo and video in one package. The camera will hit the shelves on April 24th priced less than $1500 US.
