Email marketing, bad or good?

In one of my previous articles 14 Tips to increase site traffic, I write a few words about email marketing.

I think that email marketing is bad, but effective.

Its main advantage over other Internet marketing programs is low payout. You only need to make several dollars (min 10$ or more) in order to be paid. Big publishers wouldn’t care about this but for many small publishers of blog owners and web sites, getting pay at a lower level is quite attractive and fast.

How to start:
1. Find an email list of people who often read their emails.
2. Become a member of some affiliate program
3. Write a good content in email message. The content of email message must be simple but with a concept. Don't write big email message about staff you present. Only a few words. The good message must be simple. If you can write the name of the person who will receive your message. For example:

Hi John,

I just had to tell you
about COMPANY. They send you information about things you are interested in, by email, and they pay you to check it out!
Here's the link: http://companyaddress/

4. The next step is to send emails to the people of your email list. But, be careful, a lot of emails to one person can be considered as SPAM. For your protection - add unsubscribe note at the end of your email message. Don’t send emails to the users which replay to your e-mail promotions and ask you to unsubscribe him/her from your list.
